WITH THE PATRONAGE OF MARANO LAGUNARE

NOTICE TO THE CITIZENS

FIREWORK SHOW โ€“ A RISK TO ANIMAL HEALTH ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿพ

A warm welcome to the citizens of Marano Lagunare and to the many tourists who visit this beautiful town each year, rich in history, tradition, and good food.

This is a special year for the people of Marano Lagunare as they will celebrate the Triennial Festival dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of Health with the traditional fireworks display on August 15.

๐Ÿ“œ A BIT OF HISTORY

The Triennial is a religious and folkloric event. The festival originates from a vow made by the Marano community in 1635, during an epidemic that struck the townโ€”just as Venice built the Basilica della Salute for the same reason.

The vow was made to the Madonna of Health, and the celebration takes place every three years in August, culminating on August 15 (Assumption Day) with a procession through the village and the boarding of the statue by sea, accompanied by a beautiful fireworks show.

It is a deeply heartfelt event for the community. The town streets come alive, and the celebrations are moving and meaningful.

We invite you to take part in this experience of faith and tradition together with the people of Marano, who are known for their warm hospitality and pride in their roots.

As already mentioned, on August 15 around 9:00 PM, a spectacular fireworks show will conclude the day of celebrations. We would like to raise awareness ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING OUR ANIMAL FRIENDS.

Many animals have much more sensitive hearing than humans. A firework explosion can reach a sound level that is painful and dangerous for them. Fireworks go off without warning: this unpredictability mimics a sudden threat and can trigger instinctive reactions such as:

  • ๐Ÿšจ PANICKED ESCAPE, which can lead to accidents or serious injuries
  • ๐Ÿ˜จ PANIC
  • ๐Ÿถ SHAKING
  • ๐Ÿ’“ TACHYCARDIA
  • In extreme cases ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ EVEN DEATH

๐Ÿ’ก SOME TIPS TO KEEP THEM SAFE

  • ๐Ÿ–๏ธ IF YOU ARE A TOURIST: just for tonight, leave your furry friend at home or in a safe place. Do not expose them to a potentially traumatic experience.
  • ๐Ÿ  IF YOU LIVE HERE: keep them indoors for a few hours and create a quiet space where they can feel safe.
  • ๐ŸชŸ CLOSE SHUTTERS or windows to reduce noise and flashing lights.
  • ๐Ÿ“บ LEAVE ON relaxing music or the TV to mask the explosions.
  • ๐Ÿพ IF THEY HIDE: do not pull them out. Let them handle their fear in their own way. In some cases, cuddling can cause even more stress.
  • ๐Ÿฉบ IN SEVERE CASES, if your pet has had past trauma, talk to your vetโ€”they may prescribe anti-anxiety medication.
  • ๐Ÿ“› VERY IMPORTANT: make sure they have a registered microchip and a collar with ID tag (anti-strangle). If they run away, it will be much easier to find them.

๐ŸŽ‰ With that said, we wish everyone a joyful Triennial 2025.
